Alice is 39 years old and married with three children aged between 11 and 16. She is a farmer in Kisii Town in South Rift Kenya. For the last 20 years, she has been producing maize, bananas and milk and selling them to the local market. Her family relies solely on farming for its well-being.
Alice has made a loan request of 45,000 KES from Kiva partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to purchase and insure a dairy cow. Alice believes that the acquisition of a new dairy cow will improve her family's income and generate income to educate her children. She wants to increase the number of dairy cows in her farm. Alice also believes capital for business remains the greatest impediment to farming.
