This is her first loan cycle with ACB. She will use the loan to buy 10 kg of maize, and pay for labor and other business-related expenses. Her business growth strategy is to increase her production of maize as well as the amount required by the Ministry of Agriculture. She wants to become a good farmer, ensure her family’s well-being, and give her children an education.

Amasezerano Community Banking, S.A., is a for-profit microfinance institution founded in 2005 by the Rwandan NGO African Evangelist Enterprises-Rwanda and 61 individual shareholders, and has been a Kiva partner since June 2010. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
