Mrs. Lucia lives in the Juanjui district of Mariscal Cáceres, San Martín. She devotes herself to selling food both out of her home and out of a small stand. She launched her business thanks to a friend who gave her the idea and invited her to the communal bank “El Tiempo Es Oro” (Time is Money). Thanks to a loan received through Manuela Ramos, she has been able to contribute to the household expenses, supporting her husband.

With this loan for $675, which will be repaid in six months, she will buy goods for the kitchen, including rice, sacks of sugar, boxes of oil, onions, dried potatoes, and other bulk goods so that she can serve her lodgers and guests that visit her day after day. Her husband, who dedicates himself to buying and selling wood in a business whose profits and responsibilities they share, will use the remainder of the loan. Currently, they own a small house that they were able to purchase thanks to the income generated by their businesses.

Mrs. Lucia is 36 years old, and has three children and a husband that she works with everyday to bring their children a solid education that will help them care for themselves later on. Among her plans are the improvement of her home and the expansion of her sales stand so she can bring her customers better service.
