In this Group: Sonia Esperanza, Rosenda Evarista, Liliana Beatriz, Justa Maruja, Zoraida, Carla Salome, Susana Nieves
Carla is a new member of the communal bank "Sonata en Invierno." She lives with a partner, and they have 3 children in the home to look after and educate. The 7 members of her communal bank have known each other for a long time. Carla travels from place to place selling ice cream. She sells in some clubs in Chosica, and also on the interprovincial buses that pass through her community. Carla and her husband have managed to cope with life going from one place to another, even migrating to a neighboring country. But they came back wanting to start their own business, and through their efforts they managed to buy a car so that her husband could work as a driver. Carla's dream is to buy a sales stand where she could sell clothing and shoes and establish herself. She will invest this loan in the purchase of ice cream to sell from her travel bag. In the photo, you see the members of the communal bank "Sonata en Invierno" after the meeting in our institution where they received their loan. The little ones are their daughters.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
