The women of the Yelen group are all married and average 40 years of age and three children. They all live in extended traditional families in Tomba, a village in Fana sub-prefecture, Koulikoro Region (second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They got acquainted through bonds of kinship, neighborhood and friendship. The women of the Yelen group are seeking their first group loan and trade in food condiments, livestock, and soap.

TAYE F. intends to buy food condiments from resellers in Dioïla. She sells in the village, for cash and on credit, to a clientele comprising both men and women. She intends to turn an average monthly profit of XOF 15'000 (ca US$ 30), to be used to repay the loan and pay her contributions to social ceremonies, while the remainder will be reinvested in her business.

Les femmes du groupe Yelen, toutes mariées, ont en moyenne 40 ans, 3 enfants et vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le village de Tomba, sous préfecture de Fana ; Région de Koulikoro (deuxième région administrative de la république du Mali).
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de parenté, de voisinage et d’amitié. Les femmes du groupe Yelen sont à leur premier prêt solidaire et font le commerce de condiments, du bétail et du savon. TAYE F. compte acheter des condiments avec les revendeurs au niveau de Dioïla. Elle effectue ses ventes au village au comptant et à crédit, à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice moyen mensuel de 15 000F CFA qui sera utilisé pour payer les échéances du prêt, payer les contributions des cérémonies sociales et le reste sera réinvesti dans son activité de commerce.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
