Jemal is 43 years old. He lives in the village of Ruisi, Kartli Region, with his family – his wife and two sons, who are 10 and 5 years old. The elder son goes to the secondary school.
The main source of income for Jemal’s family comes from agricultural activities. In particular, they have six milk cows. They produce cheese and sell it to the retailers in the same village. Also the family owns an agricultural plot with the area of 3 ha, where cabbages and apple trees are grown. Most of the harvested fruits and vegetables are sold locally. The family is also involved in beekeeping; they have five beehives. Honey gathered from these beehives is sold locally.
With the requested loan Jemal plans to purchase a tractor. He will use it to till his own plot, which will reduce his cost for tilling. On the other hand he will work with the tractor on neighbors’ plots and get additional income.
Jemal plans to reinvest the profits in agriculture – purchasing additional plots of land and more beehives.
