Eliana

La Cisterna is a community located in the central-south sector of the Metropolitana region. It’s a primarily residential and commercial community. Initially, it was a rural area with large parcels of land. However, because of the population’s growth and the arrival of basic services, it has evolved into a 100% urban area.

Eliana forma parte del Banco comunal “Compartiendo Esfuerzo”, perteneciente a la ciudad de La Cisterna. Ella se dedica a la venta de abarrotes, bebidas, cecinas, lácteos, helados, entre otros. En un kiosco ubicado al lado de su departamento. Rubro que realiza desde hace 8 años, en horario continuado de las 10:00 a las 23:30 horas.
Ella compra parte de su mercadería en supermercados mayoristas y el resto que necesita lo solicita a pedido a los proveedores de los productos.
Eliana trabaja sola en este negocio, sin embargo sus hijos le ayudan en el traslado de mercadería y arreglos de construcción en su kiosco.
Con este préstamo comprará mercadería, para abastecer su negocio.

About Fondo Esperanza

Fondo Esperanza (FE) is a private non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurship by providing micro-credit and training to people living in poverty in well over 100 cities throughout Chile. By providing these services, FE aims to improve the living conditions of the entrepreneurs and their families. In 2010, FE provided loans to more than 41,000 entrepreneurs. It utilizes a communal banking model in which groups of 18 to 25 clients meet on regularly and guarantee each other’s loans. The members use their portion of the loan to create or expand their own businesses. In the group meetings, clients receive training though the FE Entrepreneurship School, which enhances clients’ personal and business skills and ability to work in groups.
