View original language description ↓

Petronila is a member of the La Amistad Communal Bank and lives in the Humano Alfonso Ugarte Settlement in the district and province of Moyabamba in San Martin. Petronila owns a cart which she positions in the city’s Plaza de Armas, and there she sells candy and frugos (fruit beverages) everyday. With her effort and the great customer service she offers, Petronila can still maintain her cart well-stocked. She decided to start her business despite not having the support of her husband because she is a very hard-working person and is very apt for business. Additionally, she likes to generate her own income to nurture her self-esteem, to grow as a person and as a woman, and to help with her household’s expenses to help bring up her children successfully.

With the loan of S/. 1 000.00, which she will repay in 4 months, she will purchase more candy like boxed cookies of different brands and flavors, chocolates, bags of caramels, gum, frugos and other products to better stock her cart because she wants her clients to find what they are looking for. When there is variety, her business grows because sales increase.

Petronila is 29 years old, is separated and has two children who are her pillar of strength to continue working and pull them ahead. Her business has improved, and she is happy with the results she has obtained, for her candies have a fast flow because she is located in a site where many people pass through and is near two schools. Generating her own income helped her improve her financial situation and her self-esteem. Her goal is to own more carts.
