Several women from the Julio Correa suburb in the city of Luque joined together and decided to form a new group, after the "La Esperanza" comittee in the same neighborhood disbanded.
Currently the committee is in the fifith cycle of the "Comité de Mujeres Emprendedoras" program and is made up of 17 members who have invested in different businesses, all in the area of tailoring and dressmaking.
Exaltacion A. heads up the committee, she is married and has two children. She decided to become a member of this group to expand her business and also because she really likes to work with the other members and share with them.
Exaltacion will use the loan for her dressmaking workshop, buying fabric to increase the production of clothes which she will then sell to her pre-existing customers.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
