Nino G. is 43 years old and a farmer. She lives with her 21-year-old son. Nino’s son serves as a contractor in the Georgian army. They live in the village of Sartichala, Kartli Region. Five years ago Nino started a farming business. She cultivates land and sows Lucerne (alfalfa). At the same time the family owns 2 milch cows. Nino sells the dairy products locally in the village. Her average monthly income is GEL 310.
With the borrowed 2,000 GEL Nino will cultivate her parcel and sow Lucerne. Nino plans to sell 75% of the harvested Lucerne on the market and, taking into account the current market price, she will earn GEL 1300. The reminding 25% of the Lucerne will be used for feeding her own cows. The income will be used for improvement of the family’s living conditions.
