Loeung M. earns a living by raising pigs behind her house in Kompong Tom province. Loeung M. feeds them for their offspring and for slaughter. Her husband is a firewood seller in his community. The couple has three single children who are still learning in the local school. Loeung M. will be using the loan to buy more pig feed and piglets to raise. With this loan, she will provide her and her family with additional income.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
