Ruth is a farmer from Kitale in Western Kenya, where her farm has been producing eggs for over 10 years. She sells them to the local market. She also earns income from her retail grocery. Ruth is 49 years old and married, with three children between 15 and 9 years old.
She has requested a loan of 30,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo for poultry farming. This loan will help her increase her stock of chickens. In future, she would like to have a 250-bird farm with a production of 20 trays of eggs on a daily basis.
Ruth sees poultry disease as the greatest challenge in her business. She is focusing on requesting bigger loans after completion of the first one.
