Heng C. has been in the fishing business for over ten years on the local river. She is 50 years old and a married mother, caring for two kids who are working in the garment industry and one who is married and lives away from home. She also depends on her husband who works as a construction foreman as well as a fisherman. Heng C. is taking out her loan to buy a motorcycle, which will be used by her daughter for riding to her work place.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
