The Communal Association “Alianza de La Cascada” is starting its sixth loan cycle as part of the Cascada Community Center. This group consists of ten members. Its Board of Directors consists of the following members: Sra. María Magdalena – President, Sra. Augustina – Treasurer, and Sra. Sofía – Sectretary of Records. These women have businesses in different sectors such as trade, manufacturing, and services.


The president, Sra. María Magdalena, is a 48 year old woman. She is married and the mother of five children. Sra. María Magdalena has plenty of experience working with groups prior to joining “Alianza de La Cascada” since she was a member of other Communal Associations with Pro Mujer. Her first experience occurred in 1993. With regard to her business, María Magdalena says that she has been producing woven blankets for twenty years. Her sister taught her this trade. The amount of her loan request will be used to buy vicuña and alpaca wool, the material she uses to make blankets. She acquires the vicuña and alpaca wool at the July 16th Fair in the city of El Alto. Her finished blankets are also sold at the fair on Thursdays and Sundays between 7am and 12:30pm. When necessary, her children help with selling blankets.


When asked what she enjoys most about Pro Mujer, Sra. María Magdalena indicated that she likes sharing with the other group members, the savings account, and the training classes because she is able to learn.

La Asociación Comunal ”ALIANZA DE LA CASCADA”, está iniciando su sexto ciclo en el Centro Focal Cascada. Esta asociación comunal cuenta con la participación de diez integrantes. La mesa directiva tiene como presidenta a la señora María Magdalena, como tesorera a la señora Agustina, y como secretaria de actas a la señora Sofía. Los negocios de las señoras son diferentes, entre ellos tenemos comercio, producción y servicio.
La presidenta, la señora María Magdalena es una mujer de 48 años de edad, casada y madre de cinco hijos. La señora María Magdalena tiene mucha experiencia en el trabajo con asociaciones comunales, antes de formar parte de la asociación comunal “Alianza de la Cascada”, fue parte de otras asociaciones comunales en Pro Mujer, su primera experiencia fue en 1993. Con relación al negocio que realiza, comentó que desde hace veinte años elabora el tejido artesanal de mantas, su hermana le enseñó a realizar este trabajo. Con el monto de crédito solicitado piensa comprar lana de vicuña y alpaca, materia prima para la elaboración de las mantas. La lana de vicuña y alpaca, puede ser adquirida en la Feria 16 de Julio en la Ciudad de El Alto. La venta de las mantas producidas es realizada en esta feria también, los días jueves y domingo de siete de la mañana hasta las doce y media del medio día, cuando es necesario sus hijos le ayudan en la venta de las mantas.
Cuando le consultamos a la señora María Magdalena qué es lo que más le gusta de Pro Mujer, ella responde compartir con las compañeras, el “ahorro” y la “capacitación” porque aprendemos.
