Mrs. Sina S., 26, and her husband, Mr. Chhum Keo, 32, have been married since 2001. They have three sons, one of whom is attending the first year of primary school. Sina and her family live on an island of the Mekong River about twenty kilometers from Phnom Penh. Sina has been a silk weaver since she was 13 years old. It's a skill she learned from her mother. Her husband learned to weave silk from her in 2003 and started weaving silk in the same year. Now, he is a good silk weaver.

Sina is requesting her first loan from MAXIMA in the amount of $350. She will use this loan to purchase silk materials and sewing thread, and to pay for the preparation of her husband’s loom.

It also enables the rural poor to remain at home with their families, rather than moving to city centers in search of employment.
