Eliza B. is an entrepreneur, and president of the Habari Njema business group, which is composed of 26 members, three of whom do not appear in the photo. She is 48 years old, a widow, and the mother of eight children who all attend school. Her husband died from a sudden illness.

Eliza B. sells “chipsi” (a type of salted fish from Uganda-Kampala). She has a booth with two lamps in a depot located on the Nyamwisi Boulevard.

She started her business with her own money consisting of small $20 commissions earned as an intermediary. She has been in business for eight years.

This new loan will allow her to replenish her stock (125 kg of chipsi). She also plans to expand her business and purchase a plot of land for her family.

Eliza B. est entrepreneur, présidente du groupe d’affaire Habari Njema, âgée de 48 ans, veuve, mère de 8 enfants qui étudient tous. Son mari fut décédé suite à une maladie inopinée. La cliente Eliza B. est vendeuse des poissons salés chipsi (le chipsi sont des muettement des poissons salés issus de l’Ouganda-Kampala). Elle installe son point de vente dans un dépôt situé au boulevard Nyamwisi -2 lampes. Elle démarra son activité avec un fonds propre reçu des petites commissions de 20$ dans les quelles elle intervenait comme un intermédiaire. Il ya 8 ans qu’elle est en activité. Ce nouveau crédit doit lui servir de s’approvisionner avec des nouvelles marchandises (125 Kg de chipsi). En plus, elle ambitionne agrandir son entreprise, acheter une parcelle pour sa famille. La cliente Eliza B. remercie Hekima pour ses actions dédiées aux pauvres femmes exclues de banque classique. HEKIMA is a microfinance institution headquartered in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with branch offices in Goma and Bukavu. HEKIMA aims to contribute to the transformation of the economic, social, and spiritual lives of the economically active poor of the DRC. To this end, HEKIMA provides its clients with solidarity group loans to support income-generating activities.
