Phiona S. is 36 years old and lives in the town of Nakifuma in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has three children. All of her children are currently in school. Phiona has had a retail shop for three years. She also has a second business of a motor bike.
To help expand her business, Phiona has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase sugar and rice for resale. With the help of a loan from BRAC, Phiona hopes to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. In the future, Phiona hopes to build a house.
