Gyka is the leader of the group named “Temps de Grace Plus”. This group is made up of 9 members firmly united to receive loans from the MFI (micro-finance institution) HOPE RDC in order to develop their businesses.

Gyka’s main business is selling slippers in his area, located south east of Kinshasa. Since 2004, he has acquired solid experience in this area and works hard with good management skills in order to achieve his dream of one day opening a shoe shop. He would also like to achieve financial independence through his business, which currently earns him $10 per day. He works to the best of his abilities and uses his contacts so that he might achieve his goals.

Gyka is a trustworthy client of the MFI HOPE RDC's, having obtained and correctly repaid fifteen loans. With this new loan, he will increase his stock of products by buying slippers and reselling them at a profit.

68-year-old Gyka is married and has six children aged between 18 and 39 years old. Two of them still attend school.

HOPE International has been providing small business loans and savings services to thousands of entrepreneurs in DRC since 2004. HOPE DRC targets small business owners who can use loans to increase their inventories or invest in assets that have the potential to increase their incomes. Funds from Kiva lenders play a major role in expanding access to affordable, flexible capital for micro-entrepreneurs, 80% of whom are women.
