The group was founded by Mary who is the group's president. Her business is selling clothes on credit to her friends and neighbors. She buys her products on Wednesdays and Saturdays. She buys her products in bulk in Barrio Lindo market. She is requesting this loan to buy clothes in bulk.

Consuelo is the bank's treasurer. She is 24 years old, single, and doesn't have any children yet. However, she already owns her own business selling clothes and eventually she will also sell cosmetics. She is a very charismatic person and, above all, enterprising. She sells seasonal products. When she is not selling clothes she looks for electrical appliances and school supplies to sell. Consuelo lives in her parents' home and helps them. She dreams of being able to put a little money aside so that she can buy a plot of land and become independent. She will use her loan money to buy cosmetics that are on sale. All the members of her community bank are responsible and hard-working people who are grateful to the institution for the support they have offered them. One of the bank's members is not in the photo as she is taking the photo.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
