Fatuma is a married woman with six children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.
She has operated a water project business, distributing fresh water from home to her neighbors and passersby. In addition she also owns real estate houses which contribute to her income. Fatuma faces a major challenge of competition from other water distributors in her area of operation. She hopes to open a retail shop business in the future.
With the 40,000 KES she wants to purchase building materials to renovate her real estate houses. She decided to join Yehu because of affordable financial services to small scale entrepreneurs.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
