For the last year and a half she’s been selling food; she used to sell clothes. She sells food near the El Carmen Market in an eatery she leased for that purpose. With the loan she’s requesting now she wants to buy a machine to make Broaster-style chicken; she’ll use whatever’s left over to buy a load of potatoes and soft drinks at wholesale. For now, her mother helps her tend to the eatery because she has to divide her time between the business and her family.
