Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Khadim Rassoul Group's story

The Khadim Rassoul solidarity group was created on December 30, 2009. It is composed of 18 women who are all from the same village. They share ties of friendship and kinship. The group is part of the Banc Villageois of Palene Coki.

Khady T. is the group leader. In the photo, she is seen sitting in the front row, third from the right and dressed in black. She is 36 years old and single with no children, although she does have three nephews and one niece in her care.

She runs a shop at the central market of her village. She also practices sheep fattening. The loan, however, will be used to buy fabrics for resale in her village.

She helps to take care of her brother’s children. Her goal is to boost her savings and support herself.
