Joséphine Ntabanyere sells drinks (Primus, Fanta, and Aigle). She sells from her home. She was able to start her business with money received from her husband when they were young. Around 2010, she received a loan of $50 from IMF Hekima. She has been in business for 30 years. This new loan will help her to stock up on new products (5 cases of Primus, 3 cases of Fanta and 2 cases of Aigle). In addition, she aspires to grow her business and spend the rest of her life in peace with her sons, daughters and grandsons. Joséphine Ntabanyere Katungu thanks Hekima for their work dedicated to poor women who are excluded from the traditional banking system. The Makimbilio group is made up of 24 members. This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
