Chhun K. makes a living at home weaving mats and her husband makes a living selling beds in a market in Kompong Tom province. They have three children, all of whom are grown and living on their own. Her business is strong, and she is applying for this loan to buy more materials to turn into mats. She will also use a portion of this loan to do some repairs to her house.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
