Munhuu, 37, is married and lives with her husband and two children in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Their home is located on land that they own. Her older daughter attends a local secondary school and her younger son goes to kindergarten. Munhuu was born in Gobi-Altai province, in southwest Mongolia, where she finished high school. Then she obtained her bachelor's degree in biology and finance management at the National University of Mongolia in 2007 and 2011 respectively.
She started to operate a public transportation business with her husband in 2007. They have their own microbus, which her husband drives while she is a conductor. Now their business has become more stable and their daily profit is 50,000 MNT. Munhuu is requesting a loan of 3,500,000 MNT as they need money to buy a new microbus.
This loan is being administered through XacBank, a Mongolian for-profit microfinance institution. XacBank is located in every province of Mongolia, reaching some of the most rural micro business clients. With this Kiva loan, there is an opportunity for the entrepreneur to get a savings account including 9% of the interest if they pay back the loan on time. This is a special savings account that XacBank has specifically prepared for the Kiva loan borrowers to promote savings habits.
