America I Group
In this Group: Rocio, Nancy Elia, Maria Catalina, Alberta, Irene, Rosario, Asunciona, Raquel
This group is called America 1 and is located in the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. The group is made up of eight members and this is the second time that they are applying for a loan.

Rocío Ríos Hernández is the treasurer of the group. She is 27 years of age and studied until Year 9 of secondary school. She is a merchant and has a five year old son.

Rocio has worked selling shoes from a catalogue for five years. She is requesting a loan to supply shoes that her customers have ordered and capitalise on her business. Her customers tell us that they decided to buy products from Rocio because she sells them from door-to-door and because she has a fighting spirit.

Rocio feels very happy with Kiva's support and she is enthusiastic about investing in her catalogues. She also hopes to be able to sell more products in the future and capitalise on her business so she can be a distributor of catalogue products and give other people the opportunity to start their own business and help their community.

The woman that cannot be seen clearly in the photo is Nancy G..

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
