Getrude N. is 52 years old and lives in the town of Kibuli in the Kampala central region of Uganda. She is married and has seven children, none of whom are currently in school. Getrude has a restaurant business, which she has run for over ten years.
To help expand her business, Getrude has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from Kiva partner, BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more food and stock for her restaurant. With the help of her loan from BRAC, Getrude hopes to generate greater profits, buy food for her family and take care of herself. In the future, she hopes to expand her business further.
