Jamila is a married woman with four children, all of whom attend school. She owns a house that has electricity and piped water. Her greatest monthly expense is school fees.
For over ten years, she has operated a restaurant business. Her customers are neighbors and passersby. Jamila faces a major challenge of seasonality in her business. She hopes to expand, and to open another restaurant in the future.
With the Kshs 80,000 she wants to purchase furniture and fittings to expand her restaurant. She decided to join Yehu because of its low interest rates.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
