Mrs. Perla E. is 57 years old, married to a fisherman and has three adult-aged children. She lives in Lobogon barangay within the municipality of Aloran, Misamis Occidental province of the Mindanao islands. Perla sells a variety of fish to the local community, earning 4000 PHP a month.

Perla is glad that she's been a member of Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative since 2007. She was able to get financial assistance from PMPC as well as other benefits available to members. Perla needs additional working capital for her fish sales business and is requesting a 10,000 PHP loan.

In the future Perla wants to own a stall in the public market where it would be easier to sell her fish. She would be happy if all her children could be stable and happy in their own families.

About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative

Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.

In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
