The name of the group is for all the apple trees in the area. It is known as the apple neighborhood. The leader of the group and of the town is Doña Rosa. She has known everyone for ten years. She has been married for 17 years. Her husband is in the glass and mirror business in downtown Oro. She has 4 children. The oldest son is in college preparatory, two more are in high school and the only girl is in elementary. Doña Rosa has a hard time making ends meet and maintaining the level of education for her children. But she does this so they will be successful and have a better lifestyle. Rosa sells bedspreads by catalogue. With her earnings she pays for transportation costs for her four children. Her husband takes care of household expenses and other things. Rosa's problem is that sometimes she has to wait for payment on orders she has already delivered and sometimes she doesn't get paid at all. Her dream is to earn enough for her children to continue their studies. For now that's all she wants since she can't aspire to more by only selling bedspreads.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
