Fredrick M. is a married man. They have one child who is 3 months old. His business is located at Mukuru Kwa Njenga in Nairobi and he is served by the Kitengela branch of Kiva partner SMEP.
He has two businesses; his main business is the barber shop and the other one is a video shop well-known as the Pink Lee movie house. He provides barber services to the local people. He also sells CDs, radio cassettes, VCDs and DVDs. He has been in this business for the last two years and has managed to employ one person. He says that this business is profitable and the major challenge he has is that there are so many people doing the same kind of business as his in the area and so customers are not loyal as they are spoiled for choice. However, he works very hard to keep his business doing well.
He is using his loan of 20,000 Kenyan shillings to renovate his business premises. He hopes to grow his business to be able to improve the living standards of his family. He describes himself as an ambitious and very creative man.
