Pictured here is Sorie K. M.. The forty-four-year-old was born in Kabala town; he has four children; his wife is businesswoman and his children are attending primary and secondary schools. For many years now, Sorie has been selling spare-parts such as tyres, inner tubes, driving chairs, etc. and house building materials such as nails. Sorie is seeking for a loan of SLL 5,000,000 for the first time from SMT/Kiva lenders in order to further expand his business. With this loan, he will buy the above mentioned items in large quantity to add to his business.
About Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT)
Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is Kiva’s oldest field partner in Sierra Leone. SMT began operations in 2002 as a microcredit program of the NGO Child Fund Sierra Leone under a USAID program to assist the reintegration of ex combatants back into their communities. Today, SMT offers group, agricultural, individual and salary loans to micro-entrepreneurs through six branches and one sub-branch in rural, urban, and peri-urban areas.
