Florentina's story

Florentina L. is from the village of Mangga. She is 49 years old. Florentina is married and has 5 school-aged children. To make a living, Florentina owns & operates a business planting and harvesting rice for sale. Florentina has been engaged in her business for over 25 years and earns approximately 25000 PHP every harvest season.

In 2010, Florentina joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and his ability to engage in business activities. Florentina is requesting a new loan of 21000 PHP which will be used to pay for services to increase crop yield. This will be the 1st loan taken out by Florentina from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children.

ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 38 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly of farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
