Rodrigo's Group's story

Rodrigo C. is from the village of San Miguel Ramon. He is 55 years old. Rodrigo is the leader of a 15-member group loan offered by ASKI. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Rodrigo is married. To make a living, Rodrigo provides recycling services, hauling plastics and other recyclables for local businesses and community members. Rodrigo has been engaged in his business for more than 26 years and earns approximately 5,000 PHP a month.

Rodrigo joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve his business and living situation. Rodrigo is requesting a new loan of 15,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase additional plastics and other recyclables to sell. This will be the 12th loan taken out by Rodrigo from ASKI. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the loan to improve and expand his business.

ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 38 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk and small entrepreneurs.
