Alice is a farmer from the town of Kitale in western Kenya. She has been farming for six years now and employs one farmhand. Her main products are milk, vegetables and bananas which are sold locally.
She has requested a loan of 31,200 KES through the Kiva partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to purchase and insure a dairy cow. Then, her family will be assured of enough milk for domestic consumption and sale. The extra income from this loan will help her in paying school fees for her children. Her major challenges have been diseases and lack of enough animal feed.
Alice is 24 years old and married with four school-aged children who all attend school.
