Duol R. is a 36-year-old divorced father who has two children, both in school. He is a farmer in Kompong Tom Province. Duol R. is also a rice trader. He buys rice in bulk and stores it in his stock supply in order to sell it to retailers in the market at a profit. He wants to buy a larger quantity of rice but doesn’t have a big enough vehicle to transport it. To achieve his goal, Duol R. has decided to seek a loan to purchase a trailer to connect to his motorbike so that he can carry more rice.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
