Isabelita T. is from the village of Nungnungan, Cauayan City, Isabela. She is 55 years old, married and has 3 adult children. Isabelita owns & operates a crop raising business, planting & harvesting a variety of vegetables for sale. She has been engaged in her business for over 3 years and earns approximately 3,500 PHP a month.
In 2007, Isabelita joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan from ASKI. This previous loan was used to to purchase fertilizers such as manure. Isabelita is requesting a new loan of 8,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional seeds, seedlings & young crops to raise. This will be her 9th loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to improve and expand her business.
ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 38 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fishermen and small entrepreneurs.
