Nuris Isabel
Mrs. Nuris C. S. is a cheerful woman living in Cartagena with her husband and three children. She has a small beauty salon where she offers hair styling, haircuts, hair coloring and hair straightening. She learned this occupation empirically several years ago with her younger sisters and then perfected her techniques through several courses at technical education academies in Cartagena.

At the beginning she only took care of a small circle of friends and close family members at her micro business. But with the passage of time, her clientele grew and she started buying tools and professional accessories.

She also sells beef during the morning to friends and neighbors in the neighborhood. She sells it to them on credit and they repay weekly or biweekly.

This is the second loan she has negotiated with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and her first Kiva loan. She plans to use it to remodel the floor in the room where her beauty salon operates and to buy more beef.

The two businesses together produce a monthly profit of approximately $700.000. She dreams with setting up a great beauty salon in a different part of her residence with air conditioning and other comforts that will make it possible for her to offer better service.

Most of the satisfaction that the business generates for Nuris is in generating important income that helps support the household especially for the education and medical treatment of a handicapped daughter.
