A loan of $725 helped to expand business with the purchase of products in high demand by customers.

Asunciona's story

Asunciona is 39 years old and lives in the Santiago de Miraflores sector of the district of Zaña, an area known for its traditional Afro-Peruvian dancing. It is located 45 minutes from the city of Chiclayo. She is separated from her husband and is raising her four children.

For more than two years, she has been selling basic household goods and groceries from a small store set up in her house. Asunciona started her business to support her children since she is the sole provider for the family. She tries to stock high-quality products and offer good customer service. Her business enjoys a good reputation among customers and Asunciona is proud and happy to have the recognition.

Asunciona hopes to expand her business by stocking merchandise high in demand by her customers. This will increase her sales income. Asunciona is requesting a loan of 2,000 PEN from Edpyme Alternativa to help her achieve her objective. She has already had a loan financed by Kiva through Edpyme Alternativa's Capital Semilla ('seed capital') loan product. Through that opportunity, she was able to make improvements to her home and she is very grateful to the people who supported her through Kiva. Asunciona's greatest dream is to provide her children with a better quality of life and a good education to guarantee them a successful future.
