In Pump Edth Village, Takeo Province fifteen people have come together to form a village bank. Mrs. Pheng S. has been selected by the other members to be the village bank president. Each member will use their portion of the loan for a different purpose, but all hope to improve their family's living standards.

Mrs. Pheng S. is a farmer who owns small piece of land. She grows and sells rice to support her family. Her husband, Mr. Sey Duch, is a fisherman and construction worker who earns some money to support his family.

It is time to grow rice in her rice field, but Mrs. Pheng S. did not have enough money, so, to improve production, she is asking for a loan to buy rice seed, fertilizer, and pesticide. She has two children, all of whom are students.
