Gioconda Del Socorro
Gioconda's business is selling enchiladas and 'buñuelos' (fritters). She does this every day as an itinerant street vendor. She has been selling for a few years. Before she took up selling, she used to have a permanent job.
Gioconda will use this new loan to replace her roof. She will buy sheets of corrugated metal, roofing beams and bolts. It is very satisfying for Gioconda to be able to make improvements to her home. She used her last loan to improve a room and she hopes to continue making improvements, through loans from Afodenic, so that she can have a decent home.

About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
