Latifatou
Latifatou was born 23 June 1976 in Bassila, in the North of Benin. She is married to Doumouni and is the mother of five children, all attending (or having attended) school.

Latifatou has been living for eight years with her family in the Finagnon borough of Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. She manages with her husband the various household expenses.

To meet her daily needs over the past twelve years, Latifatou has been selling various products through the distribution system (sardines, sugar, pasta, cuscus, milk, matches, soap, etc.). She also sells motor oil as a side business. She buys her products in Dantokpa, Benin’s international marketplace.

Latifatou had already been granted four previous loans, all of which have been repaid in full, despite her experiencing a few problems. She wants to strengthen her activity and improve customer response during year-end festivities, which is why she is requesting another loan.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. For more information, please refer to Alidé's partner profile page.
