Saio was born in Kabala. He is now thirty-five years old. He has a housewife and three children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Saio S. sells cosmetics, cigarettes, batteries, sugar, wax cotton cloths, etc. in Kabala, a town in northern Sierra Leone. Saio has been doing this business for six years now. He wants a loan of Le 3,000,000 to enable him improve on his business. With this loan, he will be able to add more of the above mentioned goods to his business and this will eventually lead to more sales and improve profit. Saio will thus be able to take greater care of his three children and wife.

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is Kiva’s oldest field partner in Sierra Leone. SMT began operations in 2002 as a microcredit program of the NGO Child Fund Sierra Leone under a USAID program to assist the reintegration of ex combatants back into their communities.
