François
Born in Togoville in 1960, Mr. François N. lost his parents very early in life, which forced him to drop out of school to become a boatman on a dugout canoe. He is married and has five children. His wife died eight years ago. In addition to having charge of his children, he also has charge of his three sister and two brothers. As a boatman, he transports both people and goods from village to village along the river. This work could help him make a good living if he owned a good canoe. Having a dependable canoe is very important in this job because a minor mistake or problem could claim dozens of lives.

He is therefore requesting a loan of $850 to buy a new canoe for renting out and for transporting goods and people. This plan will allow him to meet the needs of his family. The financing of this plan is not only economic in focus but is more importantly humanitarian, in that he may avoid shipwrecking and the possible loss of life.
