Rosalia is thirty-eight years old. She is single and lives with her two brothers. Their parents have passed away. Rosalia and her brothers reside in the district of Tambogrande in the province of Piura in northern Peru. It is a semi-tropical zone which is very productive in fruits and feed for animals. Many residents have small fruit plantations or raise animals near their homes.
Rosalia operates a small general store out of her home. She sells hygienic supplies, dry goods, food, candy and beverages. She can be found in her store every day, greeting her clients with a smile and selling them the items they require. On Saturdays and Sundays, Rosalia also sells hamburgers, hot dogs and sodas. She is happy to be a part of the community, increasing their access to basic items and also providing food to people out for a stroll on the weekends.
This will be Rosalia’s first loan with Edpyme Alternativa. She appreciates having access to credit at a lower interest rate as a result of the partnership with Kiva. She plans to invest the funds in expanding her selection of merchandise and purchasing a few items in bulk. She hopes this will allow her to attract additional clients and further improve the image of her store. She dreams of having a bigger store and restaurant so that she can provide more income for her family.
