Martha has just been given a house and she is very happy because she used to live with her mom. Now that she has received a house from Infonavit (a government program that provides low-cost mortgages to working families so they can buy small starter homes), she would like to use her wages to build a perimeter wall around the back of the house since her husband works outside of the city most days and she is left alone with the children. Her house is located on the outskirts of the city and she feels that she would be personally safer and her home would be safer if she could build a wall since she has to go out to work.
La. Sra.
About Housing Loans
Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
