María Agustina
Every fortnight the members of the 'La Unión Hace La Fuerza' (Unity is Strength) meets in Rocafuerte canton. This place is known for the delicious sweet treats that its residents make. They are known throughout the country.

María has been a member of the community bank for 10 years and she is very happy. She tells us that what she likes most are the meetings because she gets to enjoy herself with her friends. María is 46 years old and lives with her common-law husband. She has two daughters, aged 9 and 6, who are in school. Her husband is a salesman.

María has a small premises in her home where she sells fast food such as 'pan de almidón' (a traditional bread), 'corviches' (traditional deep-fried stuffed pastry) and 'tortas de choclo' (a traditional dish based on ground corn) as well as coffee, soda, etc. She works every day from 7.00am to 8.00pm on her own. She tells us that she has been in this business for many years and it has always done well.

María will use this loan to buy ingredients for preparing food, coffee, soda, etc. Her dream is to have her own home since she lives in her in-laws house.

En el cantón Rocafuerte se reúnen cada quince días las socias del Banco Comunal La Unión Hace La Fuerza. Este lugar se lo conoce por sus deliciosos dulces que preparan los lugareños y que son reconocidos en todo el país.

La señora María lleva en el Banco Comunal 10 años y está muy contenta, nos dice que lo que más le gusta son las reuniones ya que en ellas se divierte con sus amigas. Tiene 46 años de edad, mantiene una relación de unión libre de la cual tiene dos hijas de 9 y 6 años, las mismas que estudian en escuela. Su marido es comerciante.

Ella tiene un pequeño local en su casa donde se dedica a la venta de comida rápida como panes de almidón, corviches, tortas de choclo, además de café, gaseosas y otros, trabaja todos los días desde las 7h00 hasta las 20h00, trabaja sola. Y nos cuenta que lleva en este negocio por muchos años en los cuales le ha ido muy bien.

Este crédito lo va a emplear en comprar ingredientes para preparar los alimentos, café, gaseosas, etc. Su sueño es tener su casa propia ya que vive en la casa de sus suegros.
