Ana is a member of the 'Ilusión 2' group which is located in San Martin Texmelucan. The photo shows the members of the group. The lady we have just mentioned sells breakfasts in her local school. She also has a small store and sells bread in the mornings and afternoons. She has been doing this for 4 years. She is requesting this loan to buy oil, canned goods and soft drinks, amongst other things. Ana comments that she would like to extend her store a little. Her customers are the town's residents in general and her business is located on the town's main road. At the time of requesting this loan she feels excited about being able to get ahead in her store and have a better life. She is requesting this loan to better stock her small store and, at the same time, improve her breakfast sales, increase her profits, and stock her store with more essentials.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
