Vincent O. O. is thirty five years old and married. His wife sells charcoal while Vincent is a blacksmith. He makes items such as cookers and also does pottery and ceramics. They have two children aged twelve years and ten who they hope to educate to university level. His business is in Kitengela, a busy area near a slaughter house. He has been selling his goods to retailers for three years and says that his business is profitable. His main challenge is scarcity of raw materials and competition from other businesses in the area which are similar to his. However he works very hard to keep his business doing well. Vincent is using his loan of Kes 50,000 to buy scrap metal, clay and red ochre to make more items and meet the demands of his customers. He hopes some day to be a market leader in the industry. He describes himself as honest and business oriented.
