Josephine
Josephine S. is married to Bernard Dedji and is the mother of three children, all of whom are in school. The couple has one other child in their care, besides their own children. All the children are in school.

About eleven years ago, the family moved to Djeffé, in the Sèmè-Podji district. Josephine helps her husband by taking responsibility, along with him, for the family's various needs. She did not go to shcool, and to meet her needs, Josephine sells sheets, curtains, and other fabric through the distribution system. Josephine gets her supplies at Dantokpa, Benin's international market. She has been involved in this activity for eight years.

This is the first time that Josephine has asked ALIDé for a loan, in order to increase her inventory and better meet the needs of her customers.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. For more information, please refer to Alidé's partner profile page.
